Minors & Guardians

There is no age limit enforced at Dragonbane, and participants of all ages are welcome to attend. However, if you are a minor - which means age 17 and under - you will need written permission to attend from your parents or your legal guardian. Should a minor travel to Dragonbane without the company of a parent or legal guardian he or she will need a designated guardian on location. For those minors who are unable to sign up without the company of a guardian, and provided the parents consent is given, Dragonbane will assign designated guardians to them.

A designated guardian is a person entrusted with the responsibility of another person, in this case a minor. At Dragonbane this should involve less of being an authority and more of being a guide. We acknowledge that many minors are seasoned larpers, but for those who are just beginning to explore larping a designated guardian is someone who they can turn to with questions and concerns. This of course means that being a designated guardian on occasion can detract from the game, but the opportunity to coach a newcomer to the hobby is a rewarding chance to be a good role model as well.

Be aware that there will be no separate activities or events created specifically for children at Dragonbane. Everyone, regardless of age, will participate in the same activities and everyone, regardless of age, will be expected to spend the whole event as true to the story and their character as possible. It is a demand that is put on every larper, with the purpose of avoiding detractions from the story and the roles we are all there to experience. It should be noted that Dragonbane is purely voluntary, and anyone can at any time decide to discontinue their participation. However, in doing so, you will be requested to leave the in-game area for the remainder of the event.

If you are of legal age, and would like to help Dragonbane as a designated guardian, do not hesitate to contact the organizers!

To parents and legal guardians:

  1. Review the content of the Dragonbane website. The For parents document is a good start.
  2. Fill out the sign up form for a designated guardian. Prior to registering a guardian, Dragonbane can not book a minor for participation.
  3. Fill out the sign up form for the minor. Please make sure that the guardian information matches and your own contact information is correct.
  4. Accept the confirmation we send you via the internet.
