Choosing your faction
To help you choose the right faction the Dragonbane team has compiled this summary of faction selection.
Cinderhill
All childrren will play in Cinderhill as this is the only group which would logically have children or minors in it. Cinderhill is also the most physically comfortable place in the game: the players can sleep in heated, dry houses and they have access to better hygiene facilities (like a bathing house). Most plots will be interpersonal and religious, in addition to the fundamental breaking of old customs and world view. Cinderhillian characters are best suited for people who want to play open and co-operative characters. However, in Cinderhill there is room for all kinds of tempers and relations.
Adepts
Graduated adepts are all mature persons. The minimum age for adepts is 18, but players of age between 15-17 can opt to play an adept apprentice. The adepts have to perform a lot of religious rituals. Therefore the players need to study more material than other Cinderhill players (this includes philosophy, rituals, choreographies, chants and scroll making). The adepts also have more daily chores than other Cinderhillians. For instance, they must fetch water to the village and take care of the village outhouses. If you want to perform active magic, you'll probably have to partake a magic workshop, which mean additional expenses.
Dragontamers
The minimum age to play a dragontamer is 16 years. The tamers all live in one camp, but are mainly organized in smaller groups. There are a lot of plots within and between the groups. The tamers are adventure seekers and monster hunters, not warriors – their code forbids them from ever hurting a fellow human being. Most (but not all) tamer characters fit well for players who wish for a competitive and extrovert characters.
Witches
Age minimum is 18 years. The witches will have the most inconvenient living conditions of all the factions. Their tents are cold and they have little chances – and will – for washing themselves. The witches live in pairs and seldom interact with other people. Most witch characters are extremely introverted and troubled. Since the players will do their daily chores in pairs, at least a basic grasp of camping skills is required. If you want to perform active magic, you'll probably have to partake in a magic workshop, which means additional expenses.
Please remember that the Dragonbane team can't guarantee that you will get to play in the faction you requested.
