Safety
The world of Valenor, in which Dragonbane is set, is filled with dangers and threats beyond the ken of our normal lives. While our characters should and will feel terror, despair, hopelessness and defeat at appropriate times the safety of the Participant is of paramount importance. To those ends please read and ensure you comprehend the following rules and guidelines.
Alcohol
Do not bring your own alcohol to the event. While it’s enjoyable to sit back and get drunk with your friends, new and old, around a campfire this will detract from the potential intensity of Dragonbane. Low-percentage alcohol, specifically brewed for Dragonbane will be available.
Dangerous locations
Certain locations in the game area are specifically dangerous, such as high and steep cliffs. Areas within the boundaries of the general event area marked with game border signs mean that those areas are off limits. Going into such areas is to be avoided at all costs for your own safety and to mitigate the potential for pulling people out of character.
Drugs
Anyone caught with possession of controlled substances (i.e. illegal drugs) will immediately be removed from the event and placed in custody of the proper authorities.
Fighting
No real world fighting will be tolerated at any time. This includes, but is not limited to, wrestling, street fighting & eastern and western martial arts. Play fighting is acceptable but must be stopped immediately if at anytime a participant uses the safe word (XX)
Fire
Do not start cooking/heating fires outside of fire pits. Be careful with torches and the like as we’d like to not burn down the forest. No open
flames, like torches, will be allowed. If fire is used to light the night forest outside a fire pit, it must be in an enclosed lamp.
Flora
Please don’t eat the local flora unless you know for sure what you’re eating and that it’s not dangerous. There aren’t many dangerous plants in the area, one kind of stinging nettle and then several types of mushrooms that can, at the very least, make you ill.
Healer
Licensed medics will be a part of each faction. The main healer within Cinderhill is a practicing medical doctor. We encourage the participants, even in times of duress, to stay within character to the best of your ability. For example, should you sprain an ankle or catch a cold please seek relief in character.
Health
Please be aware of the potential for dehydration and sunburn. Take appropriate measures as necessary within the bounds of the larp. I.E. drink enough water and keep your skin covered
Hygiene
With a six day long game without most of the modern conveniences we are accostumed to, even in fantasy larps hygiene can become an issue. Water will be readily available and there are several hygenic methods for brushing teeth and dealing with body oder that fit the medieval fantasy theme of the event. If it's within your characters nature to do so we encourage you to take advantage of these options to watch your hygiene.
Leaving
If for some reason you decide to leave before the end of the event please remember to inform a member of the staff. This will ensure that all of your mundane items are retrieved from the storage location and that we don’t open a missing person’s report on you.
Medical Emergency
If you have a medical emergencies halt the game in your location immediately and get assistance. Participants and staff alike will get you to the doctor or the doctor to you as necessary.

Night time movement
In the main the event area is uncultivated and potentially dangerous at night. Please keep in mind that the area has swampland, ponds, rivers, ditches, ravines and the like and be careful when moving around. If possible do not travel distances at night alone.
Off-game costumes / army costumes
While highly unlikely it is possible that a “mundane” person will wander into the event area. Should you encounter a mundane please politely inform them of the closed event taking place and request that they leave the area. If a confrontational situation arises contact direct them to our staff camp.
Also highly unlikely is the possibility of meeting a member of the military. Should you encounter a member of the military please note that they are there for security purposes.
Registration
Registration will take place at a separate location than the event area. You must register before entering the event area. At registration you will be given your props, attending any necessary lessons and workshops for your character as well as a final briefing.
Sex
The Dragonbane organization urges participants to refrain from being an active initiator of sexual contact. Situations of this sort are natural to occur, however, they require participants to exit the drama of the larp to either give consent or say no. We've created an event that has no reasons for the larp to halt and would appreciate the participants accord in that. Do not put other participants in potentially pejorative situations!
Staff Camp
The staff camp is outside of the bounds of the larp. Only in extreme conditions should a participant of the event leave the event area.
Tools, not weapons
Items such as hatchets, wood axes and eating knives are to be used as tools only and never as weapons. Should a violent situation erupt around you while you are utilizing a tool that is also a weapon please put the tool away in a safe place before joining the fray.
