Tabletop play gave good ideas on propping meeting day (Esa)
Dragonbane diary
Saturday, November 12th, 2005
Turku, Finland
Esa and Heiko headed to Anna's place at 9.30. Heiko brought snacks. There were Jyri and very sleepy Anna, illustrator Ville came in later.
Team began by making a list of cinderhillians daily routines. This list was quickly distributed by e-mail and comments asked.
Note: we should make similar lists about all groups. This could be a little difficult though since other groups are on the move and they have no stable lives. Dragontamers are a bit easier since they are basically a military unit which can always train and train and train…
Ville began by illustrating cinderhillain underwear, male and female, instructed by Anna. Once the underwear were done Ville began the task of drawing a proper overview picture about Cinderhill. He was introduced to our pictures about the ready buildings, town plan, early drawings
and given a whole heap of verbal instructions.
Anna, Esa and Heiko walked the prop list half way through, making notes on needed numbers of things, possible sources and future workshops needed. Around 15.30 we noted that there's no way we can handle the whole list in one day since certain people had other duties and
gave up on the list.
We found that the project needs a testing camp for our props, rituals, cooking implements, recepts, tents etc. Anna and Heiko knew a good place and time was set. Information about this was relayed to Niki for processing and proper distribution.
The last hour and a half were used in playing tabletop rolegame. Anna played teenager blacksmith apprentice who was starting her scribe studies, Esa was senior carpenter assistant, Ville played the role of a temple adept, Heiko lead the game and kept notes on what we did and
what things we came across. We noted certain lacks and things to be improved in our propping plan.
The meeting ended at 17.30.
General notes:
Shopping list for the healer
- pillows (4)
- bedsheets
- mattresses (4)
- reindeer hides (4)
About serving tea
- as a sign of the prosperity of the village there should be free tea served to all visitors at the temple all day long
Illumination
- loggers candles, need specific places to burn them, preferably somewhere people can see them
- candles only in good lanterns in fixed positions
- only guarded torches
- Heiko's "fire cauldrons"
- braziers, eight needed
- fixed in place, fire proof surroundings needed, four for the village, two for each camp
- ten fixed lanterns per long-house
Try out camp
- we need a bunch of people who dress up in game clothes and try working with them and living in a game-like surrounding
Other
- Every long-house needs waterbarrels by each fireplace, with dippers. These barrels should be held filled at all times for the water is needed for cooking and fire hazard.
- Culture team should write a couple of stories about how the young dragon has accidentally burned the village down a couple of times.
- We need a workshop for the prayer banners. We need ten different models that are to be produced by silk printing method.
