Rituals and games developing nicely (Morgan)

Dragonbane Diary
Sunday, November 13, 2005
Blue Lake, California, USA

The writing of the acting guide is coming along, but I really have to spend some time fleshing the text out so that laypeople, i.e. not theatre people, can understand what I mean. Atleast I have finished the introduction on the ethics of LARP-acting and the structure of the games and character exploration sections. I have acquired some help here in the US from another Swede who happens to live with me, and we have started to develop some practice drills for Dragontamer duels and the poses for the Cinderhill yoga, like material arts inspired, warm up gymnastics with the working name the Dragon poses. I think I like something like "the Way of the Dragon" or "the Dragon Path", or something similar, better than just poses. We will have to see what it turns out to be in the end.

This past week we got some work done on the culture of Cinderhill, mainly writing a guide to the life in the village, making clear some of the issues previously obscure to the public, but rather clear to the production team. Hopefully this work can be distributed to the participants very soon. Now we have more flesh to the communal life of Cinderhill; How are children raised, what do people live of, how is injustice dealt with, couples and mating etc. Some of the games and rituals of the village have moved into a more finished state too. It feels like we are making some really nice headway.

Last night I was of doing a fire show on a benefit in Arcata, California, and today I am rather worn, but I got some hours organizing the info I have received over the past four months I have been involved with Dragonbane. The fire also helped me but some light (pardon the pun) onto the discussions concerning fire performance in Cinderhill's rituals. I hope we can make something rather grand and exiting for the event.
