Application factory in Aska (Tinsku)

Dragonbane Diary

Finland

Imagine a log-house by the river in a small remote village in northern Finland. Outside the log-house, the pure white snow is about one meter deep, the temperature a nice –10 degrees Celsius. In southern Finland skiing holidays have just started. One wonders what the people in the log-house are doing?

Well, I’m in the log-house and I have a flu. I have managed to kill the flu-virus so much that I can think in English again, so I have continued my task of this month: making money applications for Dragonbane.

At the moment I’m working with the application to the European Youth Foundation. It hasn't been easy: it has already taken several days of work to explain to the officers in Strasbourg that role-playing actually is one form of youth activity and that our role-game association truly is a youth organization.

Even voluntary work needs money, so while the weather outside gets even better, Timo, Elge and myself pass our time having lovely discussions on the topic “how to describe the methodology to be used in next summer’s building camp” and writing a summary of the whole project using a maximum of 500 words.

I have to say I was really impressed when I made a list of the countries of residence of our participants for the application: we have people from 15 different countries coming to Dragonbane! It would be really interesting to have a large map and mark there all the cities and villages where people come from. Perhaps we should get one for the boot camp in the summer...

Hoping to see you all there!
