Once in a lifetime - build a dragon! (Katri)

Dragonbane Diary
February 20th, 2006
Kangasala, Finland

How many times in your life do you really have a chance to take part in building a dragon? That's what I said to my friend Tiia, when I asked her to come with me to Loimaa to participate in the dragon building weekend.

We arrived at the workshop around eleven o'clock on Saturday morning, soon after the actual building work had started. We started working with the old foresting machine, because that didn't require much special skills or knowledge. It was mostly detaching machine parts that weren't needed, such as windows and lights. Then it was time to make some food, and after lunch it was time to rest for a while. I actually fell asleep without even realising it.

Around five o'clock we started working again. Tiia worked in the garage to make some halogen lights work, since she is actually studying to be an electrician. I helped the others outside with the foresting machine, doing all kind of little stuff when it was needed.

I'm really happy that I took part in that dragonbuilding weekend, and I'm planning to do that again if possible. Firstly, it's really fun and kind of relaxing to get to do some real work for a chance, instead of studying. The people there were nice and it's good to get to know some Dragonbane people beforehand.

But the most important reason is the dragon itself, the Red Divinity. Well, it sure is going to be a fantastic experience to see a dragon in the game, but I bet it's going to feel even more amazing when you know that you have actually taken part in making that wonderful creature and when you have seen it being built, phase by phase.
