Dragon chassis completed (Heiko)

Last weekend the Dragon team completed the main chassis, i.e. the streel structure holding the tail, neck, wings and legs is now ready for the limbs.

We have also completed the leg struts - each weights about 70 kg and are made of high-grade construction steel.

The parts for the tail have also arrived from the machine shop, and we will start welding them together. The tail and neck are built around huge (50 cm to 70 cm in diameter) specially made steel pipes and lasercut reinforcement pieces.

At the same time, maintenance work on the Ponsse chassis advances - the two badly working rear tires are ready to be replaced. Lifting the chassis is not a simple task - the forest machine weights 10 tons and every wheel about 100 kilograms!

In June we will also start assembling the control computers and electrical systems to the front cockpit. About four kilometers of wiring is needed ...
