Exchange of Finns at the camp (Esa)

Building camp report
Monday 15.8.2005
Åsen, Sweden

The morning was rainy but the weather got better during the day.

In the morning Esa drove Aleksi, Antti and Sören to the building site. Forgetting the gate key didn't make things easier but it didn't stop us either, the boys had to walk a little. The team started putting up the support frames for the elevated floor on longhouse #4.

Next move was to pick up Emmet, Erik and Heiko from the school and drive them to Mora. Heiko had to return to Finland to work with that "Battle symphony", Erik wanted to visit his home at Leksand and Emmet chose to leave with Erik.

Esa bought some supplies, delivered those to the school, asked about fixing the generator and used the internet at Älvdalen's Tourist Info. He got back to building site after 14 o'clock when everybody had a light lunch. The work on the support frame went on and Esa played with his axe.

Around four in the afternoon the new Finns arrived. Essi and Sanni are scarred veterans of this building operation, Antti and Erno are green. They were driving the Pajero and they had the fixed generator with them (hooray!). The team had already dropped their personal stuff off at the school. They had easily accessed the locked school using the open kitchen window. We should close that when we leave in the future.

After a tour of the building site and a snack our new team focused its attention on longhouse #4. The work proceeded nicely but we were unable to finish all support frames. At the end of the day we visited the future site of the egg-shrine.

Notes:
I hold great hopes for tomorrow. We should have our pressure-air equipment running and shoot the rest of the floor on longhouse #4 together and complete the elevated floor on longhouse #2. We also should have the manpower to begin the production of the roofchairs or truces (not certain about the spelling). Damn that we forgot to test use the generator.
