Dragon hardware selected

The Dragon team has selected Adlink IO hardware for the Dragon. IO hardware is the computer system that converts the dragon actors commands (moving joysticks, pressing buttons) to signals that make the dragon's mechanical parts move. It also observes the movements and knows exactly in that position every joint is.

The overall performance of the hardware system is more than enough for real-time controlling of the Dragon.

The supplier of the systems is Dragonbane Partner Lab Hi-tech Oy from Espoo, Finland. The company specializes in industrial automation components.

Technical details

The main IO system has 64 12-bit analog input channels and 96 digital output channels. All channels can be updated more than 3000 times per second. PCI-bus data acquisition and output cards will be used for motion control and NuDAM distributed modules for secondary systems. The secondary system has 28 digital inputs and 32 digital outputs. The system can be expanded to hundreds of channels and the size of the sensor network can be up to 1200 meters.
