After a few last minute cancellations, we now have a few characters available for last minute participants. If your friend or relative didn't get on the dragon train earlier, this is their chance! Sign up now and pay and you'll be at the top of the list.
We still welcome more builders, both to the Cinderhill village in Älvdalen, Sweden, and to the dragon workshop in Loimaa, Finland. Anyone with a healthy pair of hands and some time to spare will we gladly received. All builders get food and lodging compliments of the project for the duration of their stay at either building camp. Builders staying for a month still get a free game.
We're happy to announce that the builder group is now some 60 people strong!

The North Calotte Council has granted sustainable financial aid to the Dragonbane project. The funds have been granted for preparation costs of the Dragonbane happening, especially partnerships with schools and youth workshops in the northern region, the workshop in Sodankylä, Finland, and travel arrangements from the north Calotte area to Älvdalen.
The North Calotte area includes the northest regions of Sweden, Finland and Norway. The North Calotte council was founded in 1967 and is one of eight border crossing organizations in the Nordic countries. The work is largely financed by the Nordic Council of Ministers. The council can be described as a border crossing regional partnership between the authorities and corporate businesses.

THE SIGNUP FOR DRAGONBANE HAS BEEN CLOSED 8th of May 2006.
If you still wish to participate in Dragonbane, you MAY fill in the signup form, understanding that we will not guarantee that you'll be given a character. If you're given a character, it'll be because of a cancellation from another player. You will not have any possibility to affect your faction and in some cases you'll be given a readily made character with little tuning possibilities.
We estimate that based on our earlier productions there will be very limited amount of cancellations. As replacements, we select only persons who have signed up, payed and expressed their activity from now on.
If you have paid and we can't find you a role despite you being in waiting queue, you will be refunded by the end of August 2006.
NOTE: The signup system requires a modern browser (IE6 or Mozilla 1.7/Firefox 1.0 [or newer]) with JavaScript turned on.
NOTE: If you intend to sign in as an organizer, voluntary worker or builder, use this same participation form! We regret that workers, builders and organizers alike need to fill in the game related questions as well.

At the deadline for signing up for Dragonbane, we're happy to announce that the limit of 500 active participants, players and organizers, has been exceeded. The rush in interest of the last days made us push the deadline a couple of days to get everyone on the train before closing the doors. The fastest to catch up in amounts of participants are the Danish, the Germans and the Spanish. We're also especially looking forward to meeting our participants coming from Israel, Mexico, Russia, Ireland, Croatia and the U.S. Dragonbane is now a joint project of 19 countries. All welcome aboard!
PaymentsPayments are also coming in nicely, which we are grateful for. Those who still have not payed, please do so now as we're in need of the money for building expenses and such. Those who have not payed will soon be removed from the player list and replaced by someone on the waiting list who has payed and is more eager to participate. Builders aiming for a free game by staying at the building camp for a month also need to submit their payment now, it will be refunded after the building camp is closed.
BuildingThe building will start in Cinderhill in mid-May. We're still welcoming more builders, especially for the first part of the camp from mid-May to midsummer. All builders get food and lodging courtesy of the Dragonbane project and those building for a month enter the game without cost. The project can also support reasonable travel costs for builders.
CharactersNow, the characters and plots will be finalized so that participants can concentrate on practical issues such as costuming and props.
WorkshopsIf you're organizing a workshop in your area, please let us know by sending an e-mail to info@dragonbane.org and we'll pass the information on to everyone!

Due to interest for Dragonbane at the Nordic larpers' convention Knutpunkt last weekend we have extended the participation sign up deadline and payment period until Wednesday, May 3rd, 2006.
We will check payments on Friday. Payments should by then be on the Dragonbane account. We recommend all non-Swedish players who haven't paid to pay to our Finnish bank account (not the Swedish one).
CharactersCinderhill still has space for more players. The tamer faction still has three slots for female tamers left and one with no gender limitations. The witches are fully booked.
After the sign up deadline, we will move all people who fill the form to a queue and will take them as players, if there're cancellations.
On Thursday we will know exactly how many players we have in each faction and subfaction. We can not quarantee a character for those who are in the queue. We will take only paid players from queue after the sign up deadline. We will return the game fee for queing participants who have paid but will not be given a role.

This summer's building schedules are now online, complete with everything a builder need to know to join the building camp. Please have a look at the building schedules and sign up if you have some time to spare this summer!
All builders get free food and accomodation for the duration of their stay and builders staying for a full month get a free game. This is also a great opportunity to meet larpers from many countries and spend some time getting close to the Swedish wilderness!

The faction of witches at Dragonbane is now also fully booked, as is the dragontamers' faction. This means that we can't guarantee you a character in these factions unless we get a cancellation at a late moment. All participants who have already been allocated to these factions are guaranteed a character in the faction. New participants can create a character as a Cinderhillian or stay on a waiting list for cancellations in the other factions.
The village of Cinderhill is filling up steadily but still has space, both as Cinderhillian adepts and regular villagers.
As of today, the factions are booked as stated below:Witches: 106%Dragontamers: 103%Adepts: 70%Cinderhillians: 68%
When all factions are basically booked, the faction limits might be increased somewhat, but in proportion to their original sizes. The dragontamers' faction will in this case for gender equality reasons mainly be open for girls.
We'd like to remind participants to pay their participation fees. No increasing of the factions will be made before registered participants have submitted their fees. The registration deadline is now in three weeks. Last date for signing up is April 30th, 2006.
The Dragonbane team still has space for more character coaches, especially those willing to coach witches. Please e-mail info@dragonbane.org if you're interested.

The dragon finds its physical form with the help of Finnish steel company Konepaja Ceiko. Welded steel structures from Konepaja Ceiko will be attached to the Ponsse foresting machine chassis and finally covered with rubber and coated with latex.
Konepaja Ceiko specialises in contract manufacturing of demanding welded and machined steel structures. The production facilities are located in Turku, on the west coast of Finland. The company has some 80 employees and a turnover of 13 million euros.

The Dragonbane team is in dire need of new team members! The continuosly expanding team is now searching for a PHP programmer (preferrably with knowledge of working with PHP5 objects and classes) with some time to spare. The team has no requirements of experience in larping, youth work or volunteer international projects like Dragonbane. Basic social and English skills suffice just fine! Time to spare is essential and a dash of curiosity will be gladly received.
Helping the Dragonbane team out is not a commitment for the whole game or the rest of the project in any way. Active participation in the organizing team can, however, entitle you to a 50 % discount on the game fee. Dragonbane work can also gain you new experiences, friends and maybe ideas.
Could you be the person we're looking for? Or maybe you have a friend who could be interested to help out? Please contact info@dragonbane.org.

The Finnish Dragonbane team is organizing a Dragonbane testing camp in Kuhankuono outside Turku on the west coast of Finland over Easter. The aim of the testing camp is to wear authentic Dragonbane clothing and live in actual tents. We test our cooking methods, recepies and implementations.
This camp offers you nice, mostly non-larping atmosphere and good company in the midst of lovely Finnish nature. There will be weapons, there will be exotic food, dragontamer duels, witches' ranting and whatever pops into our heads.
Interested? Please e-mail info@dragonbane.org.
The camp will be held April 15-16th, 2006. Responsible organizer is props master Esa Arbelius.

The last prop building & costume session of Dragonbane will be held in Sodankylä, Finland May 5-7, 2006. Dragonbane has gotten special funding from the Lapland section of the Finnish culture fund (Lapin maakuntarahasto) for this workshop. The project can therefore support travelling costs of a maximum of 27€/person for the first 30 players that want to be there.
The event is free of charge for all registered Dragonbane players, organizers and those interested of Dragonbane otherwise.
The Dragonbane project will also organise a free of charge accommodation (you need your basic sleeping gear anyhow) and basic food for all participants for Saturday and Sunday. Friday meals are at everyone's own expense.
Our best instructors, Anna Nummi - costumes, Heiko Romu - settings, and Esa Arbelius - props, will be there along with quite a few others. This is the last chance for players to gain experience, help and guidance from our team, as right after this weekend we'll be starting the building in Cinderhill and naturally use a lot of resources to finish the dragon, then, as well.
The workshop concentrates on Dragonbane prop construction, bone & leather work and wood work.
There's also a possibility to join the Dragonbane storage building before and after the workshop. There will also be a group travel possibility from Sodankylä to Älvdalen on 14.5.2006 to build Cinderhill. The project will cover food and travel expenses of eager builders.
For more information and registration for the workshop, please e-mail db-secretary@dragonbane.org.

When creating a complete fantasy world it is important to remember to address all of the human senses, not only make a visually complete experience. The newest partner of the Dragonbane project will fill a big part of the cultures of the three factions as the air in the game area is filled with the spices of the north, east, south and west. Finnish family-owned company Maustemesta has agreed to supply the Dragonbane project with the spices needed for the three factions at discount prices.
Maustemesta was founded in 1993 and deals in spices, herbs, coffee, tea, dried fruit, nuts and assorted candy.
